Your Motivation Muscle
Here’s something a lot of people don’t truly understand.
Did you know that “motivation” can smooth out many of the bumps-in-the-road on your journey toward fitness.?
It’s true.
And, I’m going to let you in on a little secret I’ve learned over the years.
I’ve discovered people who are just starting to exercise often focus way too much on the “perfect” exercise to “tone” their thighs and butt or to build their chests.
They do not spend enough time working their brains!
A Mental Workout
I know that might sound ridiculous, but here’s what I mean.
Motivation is a mental thing. And, motivation, itself, is like a muscle.
Just like your physical muscles, you need to build your motivation muscle, too!
Then, you need to keep it strong… especially as you make productive training and proper nutrition a regular part of your life.
It Gets Even Better
The good news is that you only need to flex your “motivation muscle” until your new habits become a normal part of your life.
Just like brushing your teeth!
Once you’ve developed your motivation muscle into “habits” you’ll become excited about your workouts, fitness level and overall better health.
As your motivation muscle kicks-in you’re likely to stay enthused about your fitness program and make significant progress toward your goals.
Motivation Can Be Tricky
Now, that all said, it’s important to be aware that motivation can be tricky.
For example, what works for you today might be different than what works for you tomorrow.
Another thing is that what motivates you might be much different than what motivates someone else.
Surround Yourself with Motivation and Inspiration
That “tricky” part is why I highly recommend you surround yourself with different tools, strategies and tactics that keep you pumped up and excited about all the changes you’re making!
It’s also important that you actually USE them on a regular basis!
Here are some ideas:
✅ Build relationships with a tribe or community of like minded people who are on the same path as you.
✅ Join a transformation or coaching program that has built in support and accountability (hint…hint!)
✅ Listen to inspiring podcasts or youtube videos.
✅ Create a playlist that fires you up (and that you listen to DAILY)
✅ Read personal growth books – maybe one per month
✅ Watch Ted Talks, documentaries and read about inspiring people.
When you allow the good stuff to enter your consciousness a lot of good things happen.
It’s so much easier to STAY motivated than it is to re-motivate yourself over and over again.
Setting aside a few minutes every day to work on your “motivation muscle” can be a total game changer!
Grab a Partner…
Another thing that works: Find an accountability partner or coach.
The best accountability partners “get” what you’re working for. They may even be working toward something similar, themselves!
They challenge you to be your best and call you out when you need it just as you’ll do for them.
They will help keep you on-track (and vice versa) no matter what.
…Or Hire a Coach!
Hiring a coach is a great idea, too! A coach has already “been there and done that” so he or she can provide you with a proven plan for success.
Coaches already know what works and what doesn’t so there’s no guesswork. Instead, a coach can put you on the “fast track” to help you achieve the results you seek.
In either case, accountability is KEY to achieving the results you want..
So, if you’re ready to flex your motivation muscle, let’s talk!
